President Wanda Sheffield opened the meeting at 12 PM by welcoming club members.  Donna Gaines, Vice President, was unable to attend this month’s meeting, but wanted Wanda to remind us all to honor all service members who have given their lives this coming Memorial Day.  She then reminded all club members to purchase 50/50 raffle tickets and to donate to the food pantry. Those donating to the food pantry would receive two extra tickets.  In addition, those wearing their name tags would receive an extra ticket.

 

• Wanda then welcomed all to recite The Pledge of Allegiance and then she offered a prayer. Wanda reminded members to invite friends and neighbors that may have lived in Virginia to join our club. She then thanked all volunteers and asked them to stand and be recognized. She also invited members to join the volunteers who help with setting up for our meetings.Wanda then called lunch tables,

• After lunch, Wanda reported that the Board met on April 9th to discuss how the club is doing and to discuss the October 2026 meeting.This meeting will be held at the Pimlico Recreation Center at 530 Belvedere Boulevard.This is because Colony Recreation Center will be holding its annual craft and art show at Colony.Wanda met with the director at Pimlico.The tables will be arranged so that we will be able to have pizza and play bingo.The meeting will be on October 3rd so please put this date and location on your calendar.More information will be coming in the near future.

• Wanda reported that the spring outing at The Villages Polo Club was a great success and thanked Martin Kirk for his work in putting this event together.We also celebrated Suzy Burlock’s retirement.She had just retired that same day.

• Wanda is a member of the Pine Hills Social Club.They will be holding a meeting on May 6th from 6 PM to 8PM with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department at Rohan Recreation Center to discuss fraud and being scammed.AARP Magazine had reported that several thousand residents of The Villages had been victims of these crimes.Wanda mentioned that she had a signup sheet if anyone was interested in attending the meeting.

• Debby Attiliis presented the treasurer’s report for the month of April.

• Wanda introduced the guest entertainment, Billy Buchanan, a well-known entertainer in The Villages.Due to the warning of impending storms in the area, his performance was shortened so that members were able to depart ahead of the storm.

• Wanda announced the September meeting will be football themed.The entertainment will be Dave Capp and France Neil. A drawing for the 50/50 raffle was conducted, and she wished everyone a safe and fun summer.Meeting adjourned at 2:10 due to the storm threat.
