10/3/26 Virginia Club Minutes

• Donna Gaines, Vice-President, welcomed members and guests to Pimlico Recreation Center.

• Donna led the group in the Pledge of allegiance and a prayer.

• Donna reminded all about the 10/22/26 Lake Dora Canal Boat Eco Tour. $30 pp if 10 people or more sign up and $35 pp if less than 10 sign up, Tour is 2 hours long. • Reminder about renewal memberships of $15pp to start at November meeting, but if you want to pay today you can so see Debby at her table.

• Before lunch is last chance to purchase 50/50 tickets today!

• Donna called the table numbers for pizza and asked everyone to start with max 2 slices until all were served.

 

• After lunch, Donna resumed the business part of the meeting.

• Donna welcomed new member from Culpeper, Kelly Joye.

• The Treasurer report was not available during the meeting to discuss, but Debby reassured us we are solvent and to read the minutes on the website to see the Treasurer’s report.

  • At the end of September 2026, the account balance was $3205.78

• Donna reminded all to check the table for name tags if you ordered one recently or even earlier this year.

• Donna shared information about the upcoming Holiday luncheon on 12/5/26 by Bridget’s Classic Catering and will be $25 cash or check (made out to Virginia State Club) and we will start taking money next meeting. There will be no extra meals ordered. Last date to sign up is. Meal will be roast turkey, stuffing, cranberry, mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetable. Dessert will be apple and pumpkin pie.

• November meeting is back at Colony Rec 11/7/26. Join us for a fun and interactive event! Turkey Trot Races! Bring 6 $1 bills if you want to bet on your favorite turkey to win the race! Lots of chances for winning a bit of holiday cash if you pick the right turkey! We will need volunteers for turkeys but Donna promised no actual trotting or running involved!

• Danny Bragg discussed raising funds for the kids living at The Christian Care Center for Christmas and stated that the sleigh would be available today and at the November and December meeting for donations.

• Former President Don Assaid, spoke for a few minutes regarding a petition to Florida legislature about the water restrictions extension.

• 4 games of bingo were played with 4 winners of Too Jays gift cards.

• 2 lucky 50/50 winners received their prizes of $25 each.

• Donna adjourned the meeting at 1:45 PM. Members encouraged to take home extra pizza and cookies. Next meeting is back at Colony Recreation Center, November 7 at 12 PM. The remaining leftovers were taken to the nearest fire station.
